Tarsiger bird pages were initiated by a small group of friends in early 2003. In the course of the years the pages and the group involved have expanded. While we have preferred to have this activity on a small scale - and mainly non-commercial - the service is not yet fully open. Of course we may insert pictures and other material contributed by outsiders, under certain conditions, see instructions.
To secure fast action, updating is done by the members of the group. New pictures are added daily. Mika Bruun takes care of most of the observations.
On this website we follow the taxonomy of Howard & Moore’s newest version (3rd Edition, revised June 2, 2005). For WP species the AERC/TAC recommendations are followed. The only exception is in the genus Tarsiger, where all the other species are moved to Luscinia except for Tarsiger cyanurus (our favorite bird species), for which its old genus name is retained.
